Why We Built This

Works Converter began as a side project after we kept seeing the same scene at finance, operations, and IT teams: a shared drive full of .wks, .xlr, .wpt, and .wps files that no current tool would open. Cost models, payroll histories, plant schedules, rate-case workpapers, ledgers — decades of quantitative work, frozen behind a file format Microsoft Excel quietly stopped supporting years ago.

The available options were not great. Cloud converters demanded uploading regulated financial Works files to unknown servers. Free desktop tools handled one file at a time and routinely lost everything except the active sheet. Nothing could process an entire archive at once while keeping every cell private and local.
